Race Cards

Racism is a terrible.

The most obvious comment on that subject to say the least, but it needed to be re-emphasized. Whether blatant or ambiguous, a racist mindset can be inhibiting as well as a demonstration of one's lack of versatility. Now let me be clear, when it comes to the obvious signs of racism, I can say (at least from my experience) that such situations are becoming less frequent; however far we've come these situations continue to present themselves. If you have a severe dislike for another person that's fine, but odds are the feeling is unwarranted due to lack of understanding. I'm blessed to have friends of different races who understand that these differences exist, and rather than allowing these skin color subtleties to stir up a negative reaction, we have conversations about all of our differences and we often find that we're quite similar.

I read three newspapers daily and more-often-than-not President Obama is the target of some unwarranted criticism. and much of the criticism is absolutely correct as he has made some mistakes, but when these accusations and problems arise just for the sake of stirring up the pot, I question the source of such information. The birther movement questioned his citizenship to the ends of the earth, with many still continuing to believe that the President was born out of the country.

He undertook a very tough job with a campaign promise screaming "Change." Such lofty goals have only begun to flap their wings, but people are disgruntled. People are tired of being broke, tired of asking for this or that, so what do they do? They blame the president because it's easy. Even before Obama was elected, as early as the Clinton Administration, I realized how much people vehemently refuse to see reality. The world of politics is a process, one that takes many twist and turns with many ups and downs.

Even in 2010 people still fail to realize...

Really?

Although racism is a cancer, I would have much more respect for a media figure if they just came out and said, "Yes, I'm afraid of this man because he's black." Although the back channel talks and subliminal messages so over-emphasized by the media constantly promote this "fear of a black planet," to me its all a shame and a constant reminder of how political correctness has demolished reality. There are times I watch the president and I know as a man I would go completely off, but he remains grounded. I wish I could applaud him on his tactfulness and diplomacy, but there is a time for being subtle and there is a time to get your point across by any means necessary.

The obvious bias by some in the media is outrageous and unfortunately many of us have just gotten used to it, as the idea of fear is constantly promoted into our heads.

Rather than acknowledging our fears through discussion and better communication, the subliminals continue and the fear of something new, something different, grows stronger everyday.

Wake Up,
