Tea Party movement...Uh Oh

Who is Christine O'Donnell?

A question that boggled my mind for hours, until I did a ounce of research to learn more about the Republican nominee for the United States Senate. She attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating with a degree in English Literature. She has five siblings. And she was a part of SALT, (Saviors Alliance for  Lifting the Truth) which focused on advocating chastity and other moral issues on college campuses.

Cool.

She became politically minded and developed aspirations for public office. She ran for the Republican nomination in the 2006 United States Senate Election in Delaware finishing third. Her second attempt at the nomination went unopposed and she represented the Republican party in the 2008 Delaware Senate Campaign. Her opposition, now Vice President Joe Biden won re-election by a margin of two-to-one. Due to financial problems she is still owes payments to staffers and and consultants from the 2008 campaign.

Word?

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes and seen in some of Ms. O'Donnell's financial problems; however when running for political offices it seems priorities and emphasis should be given to financing correctly. Joe Biden's seat was up for grabs and to the shock of many O'Donnell won the Republican parties nomination amid a variety of attacks and controversies.
  • A web video insinuating her Republican opponent, Mike Castle, was having a gay affair. Quickly distancing herself from the rumor, some said while denying the rumor, she was obviously trying to bring more attention to it.
  • Kristen Murray, her campaign manager during the 2008 campaign. In a recent RoboCall she was quoted as saying, "This is her third senate race in five years. As O'Donnell's manager, I found out she was living on campaign donations - using them for rent and personal expenses, while leaving her workers unpaid and piling up thousands in debt. She wasn't concerned about conservative causes. O'Donnell just wanted to make a buck."
  • A large majority of Republicans refuse to believe she can actually win the election. Delaware's Republican Party Chairman said, ""She's not a viable candidate for any office in the state of Delaware. She could not be elected dog catcher."
Heavy.

However, with a huge endorsement from the Tea Party Express her appeal has grown. The fiscally responsible Tea Party movement views O'Donnell victory as a way to create more of a buzz for their policies. The push for smaller government and a more conservative economic policy are bullet points of the Tea Party movement, and although such things may put the "power of America back into the hands of its people," some say it is merely a ploy by the rich to keep the middle and lower classes against raising taxes.
The controversy seems to outweigh the real issues as the American media see it as a point of emphasis when covering the movement. Although these controversies cloud the true ideas of the movement, it does raise serious questions when racism and comparisons between President Obama and Hitler continue to come to the light.

I just call it how I see it. The fact that so much of the Tea Party movement comes off as radical, to say the least, does not give me comfort knowing their candidates are running for office. A candidate who is obviously not fiscally responsible, being granted the endorsement by those claiming to be fiscally responsible? Cmon son, where they do that at?
