The Fun

I've had enough fun for people twice my age. I've partied with the best of them, and showed the rest of them how to do it. I've had too many nights I'll never remember with people I'll never forget; however I've come to understand that "the fun" cannot stay the same.

Too say that I've become jaded would be a slap in the face to all the people I've yet to meet, and places I've yet to go. Growing up in the culture of Indianapolis has made my experience seem extraordinary compared to many of my peers, but on a grand scale I've barely begun to cement the pathways of my social development.

There are so many things I haven't done, but its so easy to wrap my head around the fact that I've done so much when from a night club standpoint there are less than 10 places to spend a night of drunken silliness. Add the fact that there are less than one million people in Marion county, the truth becomes painstakingly clear; to grow in this place, to propel yourself to grow; you cannot live the life of the status quo.

It's normal to know the names of the clubs that really jump on the weekend, but is that what we really look forward too? I mean, whats the point? We know exactly what its going to be; some shots, a few drinks and tables of people judging others. Woo Hoo. I'd be lying to if i said I don't enjoy the club, but not all the time. There has to be something different. Just because it's Saturday I'm supposed to spend $50+ to stand around some dark night club, which closely favors a big room with the lights turned off?

For some reason we've gotten it through out heads that simplicity is all that is needed for a good club experience. Sure the scenery might be better than decent, but overall there is seldom anything done to make sure every person that walks in has the time of their lives.

Poorly dressed scantily clad women, watered down drinks and music which pulsates through my brain for days at a time is not fun. Period. It's a great break from a 40 hour work week, and add in a few drinks; one would think all was right in the world, but in a general sense it seldom does anything, but make me think of ways I could have better spent my time.

Allowing our late night activities to serve as the end-all-be-all, its limiting and demonstrates a severe lack of imagination. There are so many other things that may not be specifically aimed at "the fun" we're used to that we'll never try out. Listing all these would take too long as their are numerous "activities" that can push and challenge us to broaden our scope.

Diversify "the fun," my friends.....
